alright, so it's late into the evening... there's only a few people around where i am, but mostly random students i don't really know. course i don't really know anyone here, so that's not surprising. it feels weird being back at hogwarts, even if i only left a few years ago. tell me your thoughts on the matter, oh great wondrous person who may read this letter... wouldn't you feel weird coming back to a place where you spent seven years of your life, left it to travel the world, only to return to take up a job?

I found your letter amusing seeing as I never thought I'd be back here again either. Granted it sounds as if you're here to teach or something along those lines, while I am here to protect; different situation but I am still back here nonetheless. What job did you take? If you don't mind me asking.

In a way I am here to protect as well, though in reality I protect books whilst you protect the people that read them. I'm the librarian, though without the classic spectacles you might expect librarians to be wearing, as my eyes are wonderfully healthy. And I did not mind the question, no reason to as I will openly discuss such a matter with a protector of the people. Des... Now that sounds familiar to me, what is your full name if you don't mind the question itself?

The Librarian? No one ever likes the librarian, no matter how good the quality of your eyes are. Just clowning on you of course, hopefully you have a good sense of humor. As for my name, well before I say it, I am surprised you even recognize it, you'd have to know me somehow, because I do recognize your name Tiana. Well despite it ruining my mysteriousness in the letter I shall tell you my name, it is Desmond Reed.

Indeed, my sense of humor is quite amazing if I do say so myself. And whilst I work here, I shall change peoples outlook towards the librarian. Course most of our previous ones were old and bitter, I how ever am not. And see, I knew I remembered that name from somewhere. You were a few... probably like four, years a head of me in school. I was in Ravenclaw, I probably spent the most time in the library for even a Ravenclaw. Though I did manage to find time to enjoy wonderful weather.

They were old, I remember the lady my seventh year chased me out of the library with a broom stick for dropping a book on the ground. Hopefully you're never like that. And a Ravenclaw that enjoys books, would never have seen that coming. And the weather out here right now is excellent, great day to go for a walk, which is what I do on my patrol. Enough of that though, you said you traveled, where about?

If I end up chasing you from the library with a broom stick, you probably right now deserved it. Either that or you just enjoy a pretty lady chasing you. It was inevitable, loving books is just one of the things that puts people in Ravenclaw really. As far as traveling, I've been to such places as Rome, Africa, Greece and various spots in Asia. It was quite the educational trip, as well as entertaining.

I'd say if I needed to be chased by a broomstick to get your attention I have problems, but that is another story. And it seems like you definitely traveled far and wide; you did much more traveling then I did, and with good reason. You never know when you'll get to travel again. Which country was your favorite?

Oh trust me, it wouldn't need me chasing you out with a broom. And I always felt stuck and confined during my days at Hogwarts, so when I got the chance to travel after graduation I took it. I have to say Africa was my favorite, seeing all the animals and people. I found some wonderful tribal artifact antiques whilst there, I do love to collect artifacts. I plan to go back some day, it's that amazing.

Africa, surprising choice, I had thought for sure it would have been Greece. I hear nothing but good things about that country, but Africa must have been amazing for you to want to go back. And a collector of artifacts, interesting hobby. You satisfied with your collection so far? Or does it need a little more work?

Greece was lovely, plenty of things to see there and all. But Africa just seemed to interest me more I suppose. Greece has always been an ancient and brilliant civilization, with it's issues of course, but I think the struggles of the African people is way more interesting. Course it might just be me. And I plan to further my collection of the years, there's always more things in the world waiting to be collected.

Yeah, nothing beats those ancient Greek battles, but Africa has had it's share of battles as well. And you are definitely a true collector, never satisfied with your collection until you have everything possible, impressive. I am curious about one thing now, of all the jobs involving books why take librarian at Hogwarts? Someone as smart as you could have been something impressive at the ministry.

Everywhere has seen a battle in it's life time, some more then others. It's how people deal with them that makes them what they are and African culture and history seems to impress me more on how it's over come things. And indeed, my sister persists that I'm a bit OCD on the matter, but with the treasures this world has how can anyone's collection every truly be complete right? Though on that last bit, I'm not quite sure. Hogwarts just seemed like the place to be right now, it's a feeling in the pit of my stomach I suppose. You ever have that feeling? Course maybe after a few years, with some more experience under my belt, I'll look into something at the Ministry. And I thank you for the comment on my smarts, it plastered a smile on my face to think someone might have that kind of hope in my abilities.

Spoken like a true collector, of course a collection can never be complete with everything in the world, and with everything that might happen in the world. If I ever come across anything interesting I shall be sure to give it to you. And that is a wise choice, although I would suggest that if you're comfortable at this job I'd just keep it, you never know how your boss might be at the other job. And no problem, I give compliments when they're due and you were due for one. Might I ask what time you get off of work?

True, there are always new things found to collect. You'd have to be quite the rabid person to collect them all, only to find out someone has discovered something new. And I shall be very grateful of you if you were to find some interesting artifacts, I just love a good find even if I'm not the one to find it. And perhaps you are right, I'm quite set in this position so far but perhaps some day a change will be do and I shall find better prospects at the Ministry. You never know. And I'm usually off work when the curfew for students hit and they leave the library, though I have a nifty sign I can place on my desk that tells the kids I am away, so I can slip out when I must for the length of time that I wish. But I'm usually here quite late into the night, stacking books or reading them, as there are no students crowding the isle pretending to read.
